Basically to prevent too much actual discussion from happening in the activities.
My members were also confused that they had X reactions, but could only see the forum postings in their profiles.

Afaik there is no way to permalink to a specific activity, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I had a custom view for
/activity/item/id
that kind of worked.Not the greatest thing, which is why I scrapped it.

/activity/item/id looks as if it should provide a view to a single Activity Item. Maybe you can send your view as a pull request?
I just looked into it and a view override shouldn't even be required. Will submit.
