@mashnino; Yea, you can...

Make a Copy of your existing DB and Forum... change the DB settings int the Copyforum (config.php)
Also, to avoid session problems, change the Cookie settings of the copy...
When everything is working, do the Update on the copyForum... that should be it...

Checking this out on my test server.. but I've noticed that my custom Emotify smileys are now being overwritten by emoji from a folder called "Resources"..? Is there a way to disable these?

As a heads up, sooner or later you'll want to upgrade your custom smilies from Emotify into a custom emoji package using EmojiExtender. It's a giant pain, but it's gonna make the road ahead much nicer.

Also, I noticed we have built-in embed support for a lot of services now, but Twitter links don't appear to work properly. Is this a bug?

We do have Twitter support. I find Twitter embed to be the first thing to break when there's another Javascript error on the page, so you might check that first.

I just came across a host that does a "silent" redirect to its PHP CGI handler.

So if you experience that all urls show the homepage in Vanilla 2.2, you can try adding this to your bootstrap.before.php:
