Vanilla 2.6 is here
! It includes security fixes and requires PHP 7.0. We have therefore ALSO released Vanilla 2.5.2
with security patches if you are still on PHP 5.6 to give you additional time to upgrade.
Asset Pipeline for Vanilla
Vanilla's current asset handling (mainly css & js) is pretty basic. I'd like to hear your ideas about how this can be improved. For inspiration, see e.g. http://guides.rubyonrails.org/asset_pipeline.html
Minimum requirements: Asset compression, concatenation and fingerprinting ("cache busting")
<script async="async" ...>). Improves page speed.
- A dependency management would also be nice.
- LESS or SASS support?
- There are some ready-made asset managers out there, e.g. https://github.com/vendethiel/Sprockets-PHP. Still, rolling our own solution (picking what we need from other projects) might be favourable (tighter integration with Vanilla / Garden).
