OK so it's been almost a year since we've discussed this.
How can we add a notification next to Whispered Comments and Whispered Discussions when there's a new comment/discussion (as there is when you've bookmarked a thread)?
That would involve modifiying the Discussion Lists extension. It would be easier to simply go to Account -> Forum Preferences and check "Display your private discussions in the control panel".
Wait - why would you need a notification in the panel for a whispered comment? If someone whispers you in a discussion, it will jump to the top of the list.
In that case, I shall create a new extension: Whisper Notification. It will notify you, in the style of New Applicants, when some one has whispered to you in a public discussion.
Good going a_magical_me, that's what I was referring to.
Though I still don't feel starting a whispered discussion is as intuitive as it could be. I really like the format, but it's going to take some add-ons like this and others to make the adoption of this style of private messages easy to adopt.

and what you said above tho is that you couldn't see ANY of my private messages.. so i told Mark.. so Mark disregard that.

I'd like the new message notifications, such as this:
(deleted image on accident)
to show up next to Whispered Discussions and Whispered Comments:

the same reason i'd want to see if someone responded to a bookmarked thread .. I'd want to know that there are new replies right away.

it doesn't stay at the top though and it's just like any other discussion.
You have 2 whispered comments and 3 whispered discussions
or something similar..
