  • The CSS names are just temporary. You (or anyone) can change them as you see fit .
  • Also #topnav won't always be on the top.
  • If i were to make/help make a semantic marked up template/theme/thingamajig where would i start? I'd be happy to help, and i don't have anything interesting going on in my life to preoccupy me...

uh oh? hahaha - no way, I really appreciate that nick has taken this on - I just wanted to get a feel for how everyone else thinks on the matter.
  • To be honest, it's not like the current markup is terrible
  • my 2cents are in :D mark, I also recieved this error after I made a second post to the "deep thoughts" entry. Not sure if you were working on it at the time, but here it is anyway: Notice: Undefined index: SMTP_HOST in /applications/lussumo/lussumocorp/swell/library/Framework/Framework.Class.Email.php on line 131 everything still rendered however. Just that the error was clear and present above the header.
  • Ok. Sidebar done. Tomorrow, content and index complete. I will then quickly finish off the account page and search page since they're both easy. I think the real bulk of this will be the topics page, methinks. I'm too tired/lazy to check this in all browsers so if someone could be so kind, I would appreciate it.
  • If you need any help checking in obscure Mac browsers geeza shout dude!
  • that sidebar appears a bit on the wide side... don't you think, nick?
  • It's now percentage width so if you are on a large monitor, it will appear wider than how the current sidebar looks. However, those kind of things (values and such) can be changed whenever.

  • ermmm, yeah, that does kind of look weird to say the least, nick. I would suggest maybe keeping it spot on or as close as possible to the current layout. Think of how the panel would look under a really tiny resolution if it's percentage based without a minimum :/
  • how about fixed panel width and liquid for the rest?
  • Isn't that exactly what we have now?

I find that development goes quicker if you don't use temporary names and plan on changing things after the fact. Use names that will be used forever. Style it as it should be styled upon completion. Know what I mean?
  • Agreed.

In addition, for now I wouldn't worry about changing the layout at all (CSS-side, WRT the column widths etc). There are things I would change but I can do that myself. The goal here is semantic markup, isn't it?
  • Bergamot, yes.
