Scifi-Meshes is a pretty cool science fiction 3d art forum. Used to run on vBulletin, but we did a whole big server/software migration 2 years ago.

Vanilla 3.3 self hosted on a VPS. Advanced Editor and BBCode for life 😋

As far as customization, there's a few things:

• Custom theme (well, 7 themes technically: 3 colors in regular and compact designs and a mobile one. Using ThemeChooser)
• Yaga for badges, reactions and reputation (used to run the ancient app version; now on @Bleistivt's branch). Also Disable Activity Reactions, YagaDiscussionHeaderBadges, Yaga Discussion Reaction Counts and Yaga Unaward Badge (was especially handy with the old Application that double awarded a lot of badges) 😋
• Abusing the Profile Extender extensively. There's fields for social media accounts (ArtStation, DeviantArt, Facebook, Twitter etc), apps people use and whether or not they're taking commissions. Also coded a bit that makes all of these show up as little icons in AuthorInfo of comments and discussions. [Screenshot]
• IndexDiscussionImage for thread thumbnails. I've added a little pointless zoom effect for fun and imageKit.io integration to keep the bandwidth from spiraling out.
• Thread prefixes with Prefix Discussion + some custom JS to make them category specific. FilterDiscussion for some custom views that use the prefixes.
• Custom Draft Autosave Options to give members the option to autosave drafts in the database (default Vanilla behavior), browser local storage, or disable it altogether. A lot of people found autosave a little trigger-happy.
• General privacy and data handling improvements, like User Data Export and User self-delete. Custom Privacy Policy is adapted from Automattic's template.
• Pockets for a bunch of things, like a custom header, analytics, Discord widget, cookie consent
• Tagging + Tags in meta and All Tags
• SphinxSearch as the search engine
• Sketchfab and Marmoset viewers for embedding 3d models. They're both kind of busted at the moment though. 😕
• Necro and Necropost Warning that no one ever reads. 🙄
• Akismet + StopForumSpam for antispam. Also very limited New Member permissions until a newcomer gets verified as not a spammer
• Assorted other addons: All viewed, Author Selector, Bulk Edit, Discussion Polls, Ignore, Last Edited, Media Manager, Move Comment, MyYagaPoints, Post Count, Post numbering, Quotes, Role titles, ScrollTop, Signatures, Timeago, Unsubscribe Discussion, User Homepage Selector, WhosOnline
• Font Awesome for icons.
