I was able to embed vanilla forums into my own auction website. Its seemed cool. i have been searching all over for a forum and finally found vanilla forum. But i hope vanilla would have more features incorporated into it in the later releases. Otherwise, vanilla is worth using with any website.

  • I use vanilla as an embedded forum in my site http://i-cool.co.cc/
Hope my users enjoy its features
  • Still work to do on mine but here it is:-

    http://nystagmusblog.co.uk/forumhome/

I'm in the process of trying to match the font and size to be the same as in my word press theme. It would be good to have a plug-in or easy way for Vanilla to use the wordpress CSS....if that's at all possible.

  • Here is mine: Fotomozg.ru

Sample page with images. It's in russian, I tried to make it light and easy to use.
  • Just recently set it up, Vanilla seems to be exactly what I needed. Performing visual modifications on it later, and the Quote plugin seems to be working for me:

I've written a tutorial about how to get your forum embedded on Facebook as well here: http://sofarsofresh.net/blog/2010/12/01/how-to-embed-vanilla-forums-on-your-facebook-page/

    EDIT: link is working now

I've just embedded it into a genealogy related Wordpress site here.

    http://www.ancestorsnow.com/forum

Edit: I managed to unembed it and wrap it in header and footer instead. So I guess this post doesn't count anymore :(
  • Just updated mine
    site - http://freakscene.net
    forum - http://freakscene.net/forum
Excuse the site as I am pushing content in as quickly as I can but I am liking the integration very much. I ported the forum over from phpbb a few weeks back to see how the other users would like it before committing completely.

Only issues I am having now is a ton of 404 errors from search engine links.
Trying to figure out how to do a proper redirect as posted here http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/15181/301-redirect-help-with-regex-needed-after-wp-embed
    any help would be appreciated!

    * tip learned during the exercise -
1- WordPress Toolbar -> * with the introduction of the WordPress toolbar, all users get a variation of it by default (all rolls). This can include a link to WordPress stats if you use it since it shows up there.
    - I did not want to disable it as I actually use it so I installed the WP Custom Admin Bar plugin to allow for role based permissions.

2- When a user initially logs in, they are directed to the wp-admin. It only shows what is at that roll level but that can include more than you anticipated. This includes the WordPress news feeds and such.
    - For this I installed Dashboard Commander to allow me to toggle those as well.

3 - The login form says WordPress and links to WordPress by default.
    - For this one I installed Login Configurator which allows me to fix those issues as well as set the page that the user gets directed to after logging in to something other than the wp-admin.

Anyway, those were fresh on my mind so I thought I would share.
  • Here is mine http://inventory.infectionnet.org/forums

The embed-friendly template with very minor modifications fit my site well.

When I use the "Quote" plugin It reverts to the homepage with a new URL
Can someone please tell me when this will work with the "Quotes" plugin?
The Quote Selection plugin seems to work fine with the embeds.
Though not as intuitive as the quote button my users seems to have adjusted to it alright and it reduces the need to edit down what you are quoting if it is a large post. Another option anyway

  • PPingr.com is a cool new way of “Social Messaging”.

Just create an account or use the account you may already have on Google, Facebook, or Twitter to send “Pings” to people you know, or “Echos” to the world.

Then unlike sending a private text message from a cell phone, messages sent as a ping or an echo are socialized with everyone who visits PPingr.com.

Also if you want to be discrete about who you are, use the Anonymous user to hide your message in plain sight.

There’s plenty more coming soon so stay tuned…

    My site is:

http://www.thisisxbox.com which has a variety of top links, one being the Site Forums which is embedded at the link below:

I recently switched from PHPBB to Vanilla which looks more modern, easy to manage and so far - I love it

    Edited this post:
Direct link to embedded forum is:

    http://thisisxbox.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=869&Itemid=89

For anyone who has a joomla CMS site, adding the embedded forum is so easy - you just create a new article, drop in one line of code and hit publish. Assign the Menu link to the Article ID and hey presto - you have an embedded forum that works without needing to use the joomla wrapper function!
  • Here's the new forum at my site: http://www.danbirlew.com/forums/

Using a custom version of defaultsmarty's terminal theme. Still tweaks to come, but the big stuff is ironed out.
  • I just started using it . It realy a great forum CMS .

thanks for such a nice product
